Pink Glow over Boscastle
There is no question in my mind that Boscastle has the most beautiful natural harbor in the world. The unique, gracefully swooping ‘S’ shape makes it a safe harbor for small boats, and in fact it is the only navigable port for miles (specifically, 5 miles to the north is Crackington Haven and 8 miles to the south is Port Isaac). This made it an important harbor before the rail network extended down to Cornwall, but it is a sleepy place now with a population of only 700 — the coast is always changing, and not always due to forces of nature.
A further note: I am something of a pasty connoisseur and Boscastle Bakery makes the second best Cornish I’ve had — as if you didn’t already have enough reasons to visit.
