Wheal Coates in the Evening
Wheal Coates is an old Cornish tin mine that shut down in 1914. Like all mines in Cornwall, what you can see is very much the tip of the iceberg — these buildings only housed the pumps for keeping the mine shafts dry. In some mines the shafts would go half a mile down and up to a mile out to sea.
